When I tried an upper hose switch at a high enough temp so it wouldn't come on from normal highway cruising, it also didn't help much in idling situations (stayed off too long), due to being set for too high a temp. In the upper hose, all switches would come on at highway speeds because the water there was already hotter than it should be (because it needs cooling). I tried various temp switches in the upper (hot) radiator hose before going to the lower hose solution. Why I didn't use an upper (hot) hose switch. I got the temp for that switch set nicely it comes on for long highway upgrades in summer, or if I idle it without using the brake. So if the water from radiator isn't sufficiently cool to support the engine, the fan comes on, high speed. I added a temp switch in the rad lower hose (return hose) which is set some 20 deg. When not moving or when crawling in traffic, the fan runs on low speed. I ended up very happy with a relay link running off the brake light circuit. I too wanted to mimick the constant breeze of the belt fan without excessive operation of the e-fan. Toughest part was managing the fan switching. I mounted the Fan controller inside on the lower dash area so I can tell what speed the fan is running at while driving.I did an e-fan conversion on my rwd Volvo 240 with 2.3 liter engine. I met a man who lives in Kingman Arizona named Bryan Mcculloch who ownes a business called 'Custom Aluminum Radiators'I took some measurements to him with a template I made out of cardboard and explained what I was doing, he made me a radiator set up which included a 16' Spal fan and controller and I still had to move the Fan off to the left side of the radiator to clear the stock fan pulley. I used the crites motor mounts and trans kit to mount the engine and C 6. I have a 64 Galaxie 500 which I replaced my 289 2 barrell and C 4 with a 1976 Ford 460 and C 6 from a lincoln. I wanted to comment on the 64 Galaxie needing a radiator. I found out about this forum on the Ford Muscle website, also a good bunch of people. This is my first post on this forum, I have been hanging out for a while and decided the time was good to join you all, I got registered last night. I really look forward to reading your responses. What might be a viable, easy and the least expensive option. I know a lot of BBF's have been placed in 63/64 galaxies and really need to know what you guys did for radiators to keep this engine running cool. I will be running the waterpump and alternator only and an electric fan at the radiator. I bought a set of aluminum, underdriven, single belt pulleys from a forum member who took pity on me and let me have them for a us shipping. My son was impressed and now thinks I'm a whiz.

Used the motor mounts from crites and with a little local area mod on the crossmember the swap was a non-event. Gonna run an Edelbrock Performer 750 to feed it. Dont sound like too much but it should make this galaxie a bit of a sleeper.

30 over with KB 9.5 forged pistons, a Pro Comp cam (mild street), stock heads (the good ones), stock intake and exhaust. Gentlemen, and I use the term losely, actually I mean it as a compliment, thanks to some of you guys I have succeeded in installing my 466 into the 1964 galaxie that it was built for.
